Minnesota Jazz Orchestra

Fantastic Musicians Beside Top Local Vocalists

We play full and passionate swing music that will make you want to dance all night! We play true classic swing; the stuff that kids from 7 to 77 can't get enough of. It's the music that made Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, and others famous.

We have over 1700 tunes in our library, spanning the decades. From Miller and Dorsey in the 30’s, 40’s, to the Rat Pack charts in the 50's and 60's, along with a number of popular ‘90’s swing tunes. Our music includes Swing (West Coast, East Coast, Lindy), Latin (Samba, Cha-Cha, Bosa Nova), Blues Swing, Ballads, and even some Polkas.

Chamber Orchestra

In response to the ever-changing landscape for live music in early 2020, the full-size Minnesota Jazz Chamber Orchestra created an 8-piece "little" big band. With all of the lush sound of a full-size big band perfectly packaged in a compact format, this "chamber" band hits all the right notes. In 2021, Minnesota Jazz Chamber Orchestra began collaborations with jazz and big band vocalists.

Big Band Orchestra

Our band features 16 talented ensemble members, some of which have toured nationally, taught at universities and received many awards. We've been named the top big band in the 5-state area. We play with fantastic local vocalists: Debbie O'Keefe and Gregg Marquardt. Band owners Craig and Cara Thrane have led the band for over 25 years.

Personalized Performances to Compliment Your Event

Whether it's a corporate party, an evening at a dance club, or the most spectacular wedding you are planning, we are the group that you've been seeking. Hear the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Glen Miller, Count Basie, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and more. One word of warning... you better have your dance shoes on, because you won't want to sit this one out!

Don't take our word for it, listen for yourself:
